Meet Greg Steinbis

Gregory H. Steinbis, EA*, CPA, has lived in the Santa Clara Valley since 1972. A graduate of San Jose State University, Greg starting the firm in 1983 after having worked in a variety of industries including high tech and lumber.

Highlights of his career include:

Appointed by The Internal Revenue Service to the Internal Revenue Service Advisory Counsel (IRSAC) in January 2001. This volunteer counsel, made up of twenty-two individuals throughout the United States, assists and advises the Internal Revenue Service, primarily the Commissioner, on tax administration issues. Participation provides an opportunity to learn first hand what our taxing authorities are planning and the reasoning for their actions, as well as a forum to convey the public's perceptions of IRS activities, advise on specific tax administration issues and propose improvements to IRS operations.
Testified to U.S. House of Representatives Oversight Subcommittee, 2000 Tax Return Filing Season and the IRS Budget for Fiscal Year 2001, March, 28, 2000.
Testified at U.S. Senate Committee on Finance hearing on Complexity of the Individual Income Tax, April 15, 1999
Served as President of the National Association of Enrolled Agents in 1998-1999.
Attended the signing of the Internal Revenue Service Reform and Restructuring Act by President Clinton at the White House in July 1998.
Graduated the National Tax Practice Institute in 1997. This is a three-week course sponsored by the National Association of Enrolled Agents Education Foundation. The course is taught by ex-IRS employees. It provides tax practitioners information and strategies for representing their clients.

On a local level, Greg has served on the Budget and Finance Advisory Committee for the Superintendent of the Morgan Hill Unified School District, the Live Oak High Business Advisory Committee, the Downtown Redevelopment Project for the City of Morgan Hill, and the Blue Ribbon Capital Budget Committee of Morgan Hill

Our firm is a member of the Executive Council of Homeowners (ECHO) and Greg is involved with the Accountants Resource Panel, a group of CPA's who perform services for homeowner associations. These associations have unique accounting and tax issues. As a member of ECHO our firm is qualified to assist associations with their day to day transactions as well as more complex service activities.

* Enrolled Agents (EAs) are professional tax practitioners who have demonstrated to the U. S. Treasury Department technical competence in tax matters and are empowered by the Internal Revenue Service to conduct tax representation work.
